Red Light Therapy Melbourne

FAQ’s

Red Light Therapy (RLT) uses low-level red and near-infrared light to energize cells and stimulate healing from the inside out. These wavelengths penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the mitochondria—your cells’ energy generators—helping to increase ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the fuel that powers cell function and repair.

This increased energy output promotes faster recovery, reduced inflammation, pain relief, enhanced skin health, cellular healing and overall well-being.

Each red light therapy session typically lasts 25 to 30 minutes and is recommended 2–3 times per week for optimal results. We recommend 10 minutes on the Hypervibe machine after your session to support lymphatic drainage and circulation.

If you choose to add the infrared sauna to enhance the detoxification process, please allow a minimum of 80 minutes for the full experience.

Your red light therapy session is designed to be deeply calming, restorative, and rejuvenating.

We recommend wearing comfortable underwear, as you’ll be resting in a full-body red light therapy pod. Once inside, we apply a bautiful green tea serum. You will experience a gentle warmth from the therapeutic red and near-infrared light. Most clients describe the session as soothing and peaceful, with a noticeable sense of relaxation and inner calm and often fall into a deep restorative asleep.

We then apply Vitamin C serum to amplify your skin’s glow and improve overall skin tone and massage the face with rosehip oil to support cell turnover, promote collagen production and boost skin healing.

After your session, you’ll spend 10 minutes on the Hypervibe machine, which uses whole-body vibration to stimulate lymphatic drainage, enhance circulation, and support your body’s natural detox process. This simple yet powerful step helps maximise the benefits of your red light therapy treatment.

If you’ve chosen to include the infrared sauna add-on, you’ll enter a second pod, again lying on the treatment table. These pods use targeted infrared light waves to heat your body from the inside out. This promoting deep cellular detoxification, improved circulation, and muscle recovery. Unlike traditional saunas, the infrared method won’t overwhelm your respiratory system, making it a more comfortable and accessible detox option.

Allow yourself to unplug, unwind, and reset as your body absorbs the healing benefits of light and heat, working gently, but powerfully, from within.

Our non-invasive treatments are designed to be safe, comfortable, and suitable for all skin types. Our therapy systems are FDA-cleared, TGA-registered, ISO13485 & MDSAP certified. There is no UV light. We harness the healing frequencies of 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light, suitable for all skin types and conditions.

  • Those Taking Photosensitising Medications
Medications like antibiotics (e.g. tetracycline) and certain anti-inflammatories can make the skin more sensitive to light and increase the risk of adverse effects.

  • People with Active Skin Cancer
Red light may promote cellular activity, which is generally good but it’s not advised around cancerous lesions unless cleared by an oncologist.

  • Pregnant Individuals
While there’s no evidence RLT is harmful in pregnancy, it’s best to avoid abdominal or lower back exposure unless approved by a doctor, as safety data is currently limited.

  • Those with Epilepsy or Light Sensitivity Disorders
Flashing or intense light can trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy. Always consult a specialist prior to commencing RLT therapy.

  • People with Uncontrolled Thyroid Conditions
Red and near-infrared light can stimulate the thyroid gland. Those with hyperthyroidism or thyroid nodules should use consult with their specialist prior to commencing RLT.

Red Light Therapy works best when your body is well-hydrated. Please:

  • Drink 500ml–1L of water in the 1–2 hours before your appointment

  • Avoid caffeine on treatment days (it can restrict circulation, dehydrate you, and reduce effectiveness)

  • Drink at least another litre of water throughout the day to support detoxification

water plays such an important role in your results:

1. Supports Cellular Function

Red Light Therapy works by stimulating the mitochondria (the “powerhouses” of your cells) to produce more energy. Water is vital for this process—without proper hydration, your cells can’t function at their peak, which means the treatment won’t be as effective.

2. Boosts Circulation

One of the key effects of RLT is improved blood flow. Adequate hydration helps keep your blood volume healthy and circulation smooth, allowing oxygen and nutrients to travel efficiently to your tissues while toxins and waste products are carried away.

3. Enhances Lymphatic Drainage

Red Light Therapy, especially when combined with the vibration plate or infrared sauna, encourages your body to release stored fat and metabolic waste. Water acts like a “flushing system,” helping your lymphatic system remove these byproducts. If you’re dehydrated, this detox process slows down and results may be diminished.

4. Improves Skin Health and Glow

Because RLT is often used to support collagen production, elasticity, and overall skin rejuvenation, hydration becomes even more important. Well-hydrated skin is plumper, more resilient, and better able to absorb and respond to the benefits of the treatment.

5. Reduces Side Effects

Some clients notice mild detox symptoms after their first few sessions, such as slight fatigue or headaches. Drinking enough water before and after your treatment helps minimise these effects by ensuring your body can efficiently process and eliminate released toxins.

Pro tip: Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated before and after your session.

  1. Skin sensitivity – After RLT, your skin may be temporarily more sensitive to light, making it more prone to irritation, redness, or mild discomfort if exposed to the sun’s UV rays.
  2. Healing focus – The treatment stimulates cellular repair and regeneration. Avoiding UV stress allows your skin to focus on recovery and repair instead of dealing with sun-induced oxidative stress.
  3. Reduced risk of damage – Sun exposure (or tanning beds) can increase free radicals and inflammation, counteracting the anti-inflammatory and rejuvenating benefits of RLT.
  4. Consistency of results – Protecting the skin post-session helps maintain the therapeutic benefits (improved circulation, collagen support, detox), rather than stressing the skin with damaging UV light.

So the 24-hour “no sun” guideline is a precaution to maximise results and protect the skin while it’s in a responsive, healing state.
